The Barnes & Noble store in Towson is scheduled to close at the end of May.

“The property is going through a major re-development, which would not allow for us to remain in place during the construction,” David Deason, vice president of development at Barnes & Noble said in an official statement.

“We have enjoyed serving our customers in Towson and we look forward to continuing to serve them at the nearby Pikesville, White Marsh and Power Plant stores."

The closing is part of a redevelopment effort at Towson Circle, which forced last year’s closings of Pier 1 and Bahama Breeze, and the relocation of Trader Joe’s to The Shops at Kenilworth.

The grocery store is scheduled to open its new 12,400 square-foot location on March 17.
