Blood donations are always needed with the American Red Cross, but after disasters like Harvey, the need is critical.
Baltimore Symphony Musicians performed live at the American Red Cross Timonium Blood Donation Center on Monday afternoon.
The symphony is performing to bring attention to the need of blood donations, especially after Harvey. They are thanking those who made a donation.
"What better day to do it than today here on Labor Day," said oboist Michael Lisicky, "to bring a little attention to some of the need that's happening on the Gulf Coast and nationally and locally in general."
The sounds of strings and Mozart were much appreciated by donors, who are more accustomed to needles and vials being the most memorable part of the trip.
"Oh it's been wonderful. It was good listening to them. It was very good entertainment," said donor Jennifer Gabella.
Donor Kara Seidel said the surprise concert helped keep her relaxed.
"I didn't think donating blood was going to be fun," she said. "It's a party. Everyone's dancing and having a good time!"
