TOWSON, Md. - The cloudy sky over Towson fit the somber mood this morning.
Baltimore County held a memorial service honoring police officers killed in the line of duty since 1874.
The department's honor guard placed nine wreaths on the police memorial at patriot plaza honoring the nine fallen officers. The brother of Sgt. Mark Parry, whose end of watch came in January 2002, said it's been hard since his brother died.
But by attending the annual memorial service, Parry realizes how much the fallen sergeant did for the people.
The last officer killed in the line of duty was Officer Jason Schneider last August. Schneider was shot to death while serving an arrest warrant.
