Baltimore County officials have reported that the county's unemployment rate has reached 3.7%, making it lower than the national and State percentage rate.

As Maryland's third-largest jurisdiction, officials say the expansion and growth of jobs and new businesses in the area have contributed to the plunge in unemployment.

“Baltimore County’s steady economic expansion and sound fiscal management have created a business climate where companies grow, hire, and continue their prosperity. We all benefit when more people bring home a paycheck,” said Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz.

They say developments such as Tradepoint Atlantic, downtown Towson, Foundry Row in Owings Mills and expansions of the County’s major healthcare facilities have helped with employment growth.
