Students across Maryland are going back to school next week, and that means more traffic, along with kids walking, riding their bikes and waiting at bus stops.
State and local leaders met Wednesday to emphasize the importance of back-to-school travel safety. They urged drives to be aware.
"Certainly more congestion in the area of our schools and neighborhoods so we really want to remind motorists to pay attention, to avoid distractions and to obey the law. Particularly, as it relates to school buses and not passing them." Ragina Averella Cooper, the public and government affairs manager for Maryland AAA, said.
Officials also reminded parents and students to review the rules of the road, especially for walking to school, biking and waiting for school buses.
