Amtrak resumes limited service between DC and Baltimore

WASHINGTON D.C. - Amtrak has resumed limited service between Baltimore and Washington, D.C., after downed wires caused travel to be suspended.

Amtrak spokesman Craig Schulz says Acela Express and Northeast Regional service resumed about 3 p.m. Thursday following temporary repairs. Traffic that normally travels on three tracks was initially limited to one track. A second track was put back in service shortly before 5 p.m.

Schultz says passengers should expect delays through the afternoon rush hour.

About a dozen trains carrying more than 1,500 passengers are affected.

Officials believe an Amtrak train pulled down wires near the station in Bowie Thursday morning.
