First responders throughout Maryland are prepared to help any motorists who experience any troubles during inclement weather.
Maryland State Troopers, Maryland Emergency Management Agency, the State Highway Administration and several other local agencies are working together to protect anyone driving on Maryland roadways.
Authorities are reminding motorists to stay informed about any potential highway restrictions should a snow emergency plan be activated. If a snow emergency is declared parking is prohibited on designated roads or streets.
Everyone is required to use approved mud or snow tires or chains during the while a snow emergency is in place.
All unattended vehicles along major roadways during the snow storm will be towed for safety. If your vehicles is towed contact your local state police barrack.
State Police encourage those who do not need to travel to stay home. If you must travel ensure your vehicle is in good working condition and that you have an emergency roadside kit.
REMINDER | In the event of a power failure motorists are reminded of Maryland's law about non-functioning traffic lights. The law requires ALL drivers to stop at the signal and proceed after yielding to other vehicles or pedestrians already in the intersection.
