Stacey Jerome's story is too good to be true. The mother of two didn't have an easy upbringing, but she's making sure that her kids have a better childhood.
"I wanted to set an example for my children, for them to know that no matter what lemons life throws you, you better make some good lemonade," she said.
Jerome was placed in foster care at a young age and had a baby girl at 16. Now at 23, she also has a 1-year-old son. She said she looked at her children one day, and knew she had to make a change.
"I wanted to set an example for my children, for them to know that no matter what lemons life throws you, you better make some good lemonade," Jerome said. "I learned to stay strong."
Jerome crossed the stage at Towson University Friday with a degree in family and human services. She traveled three hours a day on a bus to get to class because she couldn't afford a car.
She even shared her story in a letter to president Obama who told her that he admired her strength and determination. Jerome said to be prepared to see her in the future, joking that she could be the next president.
