BALTIMORE - Baltimore Department of Public Works crews report they are continuing work to restore water service to approximately 200 homes, one school and several businesses in Pigtown.
The service disruption is due to a break in a 20-inch water main break late Sunday afternoon in the 1200 block of Washington Blvd. This water line has been mostly shut down, but adjustments to valve closures continue in an attempt to reduce the area of low water pressure and total water outage.
DPW reports that Washington Boulevard remains closed in both directions as does Ostend Street at Washington Boulevard. Detours are posted and motorists are advised to avoid the area and obey road closures.
In addition, DPW said those customers in the vicinity who have water may notice some cloudiness caused by the break. The water is safe but should be allowed to run until clear. DPW said removing the aerator on the faucet will prevent sediment buildup and expedite this process.
DPW hopes to have water restored overnight. Those with questions or who need assistance should call 311.
