BALTIMORE - On Sunday, things on Marshall Street in South Baltimore were back to normal. Besides the typical hustle and bustle of neighbors chatting, it was a quiet area. But a night earlier, it was the site of a deadly stabbing.
"That's kinda scary when it's right across the street," said Michael Schultheiss, who has called Marshall Street home for four years.
Schultheiss says he's never heard of anything like this happening in the neighborhood before.
"People are kinda shocked about it. Considering it's pretty quiet. Besides our little break ins, car windows being smashed, that kind of thing. Definitely not murder," said Schultheiss.
According to police, around 11:45 Saturday night, officers found a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds inside a South Baltimore home. She was rushed to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
"I am completely shocked. I didn't think that type of thing happens in this neighborhood. It's just very surprising," said neighbor, Joe Arcidiacono.
For neighbors on Marshall Street, it's a shocking reality of the crime that can hit too close to home.
"You know, you live in Baltimore. I mean, unfortunately, you hear about it happening in other areas of the city and it's surprising but, you know, you live in the city," said Schultheiss.
Police are waiting to release the woman's identity until her next of kin is notified.
