The Western District house on Mount Street in West Baltimore is getting ready for a $2.4 million renovation to a building that dates back to the 1950s.

The goal is not only to update it to fight today's crimes, but also make it a gathering place for the community.

War Horse, a real estate investment firm run by Kevin Plank's brother Scott, is the lead donor for the complete renovation of the 1957 station. Various local businesses pulled together more than $2 million to provide updated facilities on the inside and a community feel on the outside.

The Western is actually the second district to get a facelift. Early last year, the Southeasten District underwent a renovation that included a new gym and detectives wing.

The construction schedule for the Western District is aggressive. Work is slated to take only six months and organizers hope to have it done in November.
