Water main break shuts down city streets

BALTIMORE - More Baltimore streets are closed thanks to a water main break downtown.

According to the Department of Public Works, a 30-inch water main burst in the area of Madison Street and Guilford Avenue around 8 a.m. on Monday.

Madison Street is closed between Fallsway and Calvert Street.  Guilford Avenue is closed between Monument Street and Madison Street.

Crews are working on the break, and DPW is asking residents to avoid the area.

DPW also says residents and businesses in the area may have cloudy water and low pressure and should not run or use water right now.

This break is roughly a mile from another major water main break from last week.  Crews are still working to repair the 60-inch water main that caused a river to run through the area of North Avenue and Charlest Street.
