BALTIMORE - UPDATE | Baltimore City Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the Broadway Street fire. Investigators estimate that the fired caused $500,000 in structural damages, and resulted in $1,000,000 content loss.
Roads are back open in and around a 5-alarm fire in Fells Point but more than 200 BGE customers lost their power due to the fire.
The supermarket is housed in a warehouse and caught fire a little before 2:00pm Monday in the 500 block of Broadway Street.
ABC2 spoke with fire dispatchers overnight who say 1 firefighter suffered a foot injury after working on the scene.
ABC2 News also spoke with BGE officials overnight Tuesday who say that 200 customers lost power overnight but were restored around 2:00am. Another 73 people weren't expected to have their power back on until 8:00am Tuesday. BGE officials say they had to shut off customers' power because they were checking electrical outages inside the burned out building.
Baltimore City fire officials tell ABC2 News that two fire engines remained on the scene early Tuesday morning and a contractor had been called to remove charred debris from the scene.
The fire spread to five alarms before it was declared under control at around 7:15pm Tuesday.
Fire crews remained on the scene until Tuesday morning to prevent hotspots from flaring up. Most of the streets reopened in and around the fire including Broadway, Eastern, and Fleets Streets,
No cause has been determined.
