Volunteers spent Monday morning cleaning up Johnston Square Park in Baltimore in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy of community service.

Volunteers from Civic Works, The 6th Branch and Rebuild Johnston Square worked on a neighborhood-wide cleanup, spread compost on an urban farm and removed rubble from a community garden.

Paul's Place, a community outreach center in southwest Baltimore, also hosted extra volunteers for the day. More than 50 volunteers from Civic Works, St. Paul's School and other groups learned about King's life and helped serve meals and put together food bags and medical kits.
