A lot of events can cause trauma in our lives. Whether's it's a car accident or a domestic dispute, victims need any help they can get.
The University of Baltimore is hosting a summit over the next two days to provide these people aid. Most of the victims are dealing with trauma started by violent encounters.
Debra Stanley with the University of Baltimore hopes the summit can help build relationships within the community to prevent future experiences from happening.
"The trauma informed practices are meant to be very collaborative efforts," Stanley said. "Agencies are working across other agencies and disciplines to help in the community to move through these traumatic events and move beyond it."
University president Kurt Schmoke addressed those in attendance about ways traumatic events can be prevented in the future. The university's trauma team plans on following up with agencies in three months to present an action plan for helping victims.
