Talking to your kids after a tragedy


The mass shooting in Colorado has been a hot topic across the nation.

Many adults are trying to make sense of the incident, but for kids – this is even harder to explain.

They are going to have a lot of questions, and Psychologist Russell Hibler of Union Memorial Hospital has some tips to help parents talk to their children.

Dr. Hibler says, "It's important to spend quality time with your kids after something like this."

Hibler believes parents should be open to talking about this with their children and should not overdo watching the coverage of the shooting.

Instead, focus on what is being done after the tragedy.
