Susan G. Komen Maryland announced Monday that its 25th annual Race for the Cure is returning to Baltimore City.

The 2017 race will be held in McHenry Row on Sunday, Oct. 15.

Susan G. Komen Maryland started its first Race for the Cure at Baltimore's Rash Field in 1993. The event was then moved to Hunt Valley in 2007.

Organizers said the past 10 years have been a success as the race became on of the largest charitable 5Ks in the state. Susan G. Komen Maryland expects the Race for the Cure in Baltimore to attract 8,000 participants. The fundraising goal for this year's event is $850,000.
