Students from around the region traveled to the Port of Baltimore to check out some of the Fleet Week ships up close for Explore the Ships day.
Crews planned out educational experiences for the dozens of groups touring the harbor.
The massive vessels were studied from the inside out: Everything from the complicated controls to the experiences of the men and women on board.
"I think it's a really good feeling to see that other people admire what we do. We kind of forget about that. Every day we do the same job, so for us its super normal. When the kids are impressed with what we do, its a good feeling that were doing something special and helpful for people," said Joan Martin-Labelle of the Royal Canadian Navy.
The day became a field trip for many students interested in joining the Navy when they get older.
