Students get their hands dirty to improve their health

BALTIMORE - City officials along with staff, students and parents from Violetville Middle School will plant an American Heart Association Teaching Garden Friday on Friday.

The Teaching Garden is a real-life laboratory where the students will learn how to plant seeds and nurture the growing plants, along with their bodies.

The plants were chosen according to the American Heart Association Science and Nutrition guidelines, giving them a hands-on education about healthy foods.

They will also learn how to harvest the produce from gardening and education experts from the American Heart Association.

The planting event runs from 10:30 am  to 1 pm at 1207 Pine Heights Avenue in Baltimore.
