The filing submitted by Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh reads: "The State respectfully submits that, because Syed remains convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the premeditated strangulation of his 18-year-old ex-girlfriend, and because the order granting Syed post-conviction relief on a single ground has been stayed and is the subject of a pending appeal, Syed’s motion should be summarily denied. Under these circumstances, no hearing is required or appropriate."
