The 45th annual lighting of the Washington Monument is expected to impact area traffic Thursday.
Motorists in Mount Vernon should be aware of the following temporary road closures with detours and parking restrictions enforced until 11 p.m.
- East Mt. Vernon Place from Charles to St. Paul Streets
- North Charles Street from Centre to Madison Streets
- West Mt. Vernon Place from Charles to Cathedral Streets
City officials said drivers should be on the lookout for pedestrians in the area, and should find alternate routes.
