Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley stopped by BARCS animal shelter over the weekend in search of a new addition to his family.

Stanley, along with his girlfriend, and teammate Alexander Lewis, visited the shelter and told volunteers they were looking for a “dog that's been here a long time and maybe not-so-adoptable."

Staff showed Stanley and his girlfriend a few eligible pups, but Winter ended up catching their eye. BARCS said the six-year-old dog has endured a hard life. She was found dehydrated on a vacant property and has a hanging belly as a result of overbreeding.

"Well, that's just what happens when you've had babies,” Stanley told volunteers.

The pair signed adoption papers and took her home that same day.

“We are so proud to have amazing guys like Ronnie to be role models to the kids in our city,” BARCS said. “Not only does his single act of kindness make adoption cool, but it makes giving love to an imperfectly perfect dog a 'manly' thing to do.”
