One Baltimore City councilwoman wants to permanently recognize Henrietta Lacks. Councilwoman Shannon Sneed proposed Monday that every October 4 be known as "Henrietta Lacks Day".

An HBO movie starring Oprah Winfrey was recently released highlighting Lacks' contributions in the medical field.

The full Baltimore City Council and Mayor Catherine Pugh would have to approve the bill for "Henrietta Lacks Day" to go into effect.

Lacks was from Turner Station.
