Sixty-five protesters were arrested Saturday for reportedly blocking traffic, according to city police.

Baltimore police said the group was peacefully protesting until they began to block traffic on I-83.

The protest occurred near Artscape, the popular arts festival that takes place in Baltimore annually.

Police said the protesters were marching through the area of Mt. Royal, and ran down the Charles Street ramp to I-83. They then locked arms and blocked traffic on the northbound lanes before officers arrived and began making arrests.

Violators were arrested peacefully and no injuries were reported.

Police initially said 20 people were arrested; later on Saturday night, they raised that number to 65.

Police arrested 55 adults and 10 juveniles. They will be charged with failure to obey and illegally walking on a highway.
