'Vacants to Value' demolishes homes in Central Baltimore

BALTIMORE - The "Vacants to Value" program demolished six vacant properties on Wilson Street in support of making the community safer.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Baltimore Housing Commissioner Paul Graziano joined community leaders and residents of the Upton community at the demolishing in the 500 block of Wilson St.

"The Upton community has long suffered the negative impact that these properties bring," said Rawlings-Blake.

According to Rawlings-Blake the buildings were a shelter for drug and criminal activity.

"Vacants to Value" worked with business owners in the area to determine the best course of action for the neighborhood and residents.
