Baltimore City police identified the officer who shot a man in the hand on Wednesday.
Baltimore Police Department Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a release that Officer Calvin Moss shot the man during a traffic stop on Cliftmont Avenue. Officer Moss is assigned to the Special Enforcement Section of the Northeast District.
Officers on the scene say the man ran down an alley behind Cliftmont Street. Officials say he was then shot in the hand as an officer said it appeared the man pulled a gun.
As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, investigators had not found a gun.
"The suspect turned, engaged the police officers," said Guglielmi. "One of the officers believed they saw a weapon, and in defense, the officer's partner fired at least one round in the direction of the suspect."
The man shot in the hand was transported to a local hospital with an injury not believed to be life-threatening.
