A new partnership is providing hands on training and helping people get jobs in West Baltimore communities.

Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake, Project JumpStart and the HabiCorps Workforce Development Programs is helping people facing significant barriers with careers in the construction trades.

The program lasts 10 months and at the end of the training is a job opportunity, For those participating, like Eugene Jowers, it's an opportunity they didn't think they would ever be possible.

"I just want to say that it is possible. I know there's a lot going on in the city right now and everything like that, but this is an opportunity that's possible. So, if you guy are not doing anything out there or are looking to get into this field, come on man, join us and get on board. Habit for Humanity is possible," Jowers said.

At the end of the program participants are given more than $5,700 to further their education.

The pilot class started in October with 10 members.
