Tuesday Penn-North's Kids Safe Zone gave away 300 turkeys to help families in need celebrate the holiday.

Clothes were also given away outside of the Kids Safe Zone.

It's all to lessen the burden on local families in need so they can enjoy the holiday.

"It's very important for us like it always is to fill the gap for families that wouldn't otherwise have. So, it was a huge success. 300 turkeys given to families that on Thanksgiving Day they will be able to enjoy a turkey dinner," said Kids Safe Zone CEO Ericka Alston-Buck.

Tuesday’s giveaway was the biggest turkey giveaway the Sandtown-Winchester community has ever seen.

Kid Safe Zone partnered with Dream Bigger Media Group, D1 Entertainment, Majic 95.9 and 92q for the “Give back.”

After the giveaway, the staff and the children led a march from the Kids Safe Zone to Douglas High School to fight for proposed funding for organizations that advocate for and provide services for local youth.
