Beer lovers and animal lovers rejoice! The Penguin Pils will be widely available in cans this week.
The beer started in 2016 as a collaboration between Brewers Art and The Maryland Zoo. The beer became so popular, they've now decided to start distributing Penguin Pils in cans. On Thursday, June 29, The Maryland Zoo and Brewers Art will celebrate the expansion at the zoo's Penguin Coast.
The beer is brewed with German Noble hops and American hop varieties at 4.5% abv. A portion of all sales of Penguin Pils will benefit The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore’s African penguin program. The Maryland Zoo is home to North America's largest African penguin colony.
Cans of Penguin Pils will be available for purchase at Brewers Art and at places where Brewer Arts products are typically sold starting on Saturday, July 1. Both the can and draft versions of the beer will benefit The Maryland Zoo.
