One person dead in early morning apartment fire

Deadly fire broke out before 3am

Crews battled a deadly two alarm fire at the Marble Hall Apartments early Thursday morning. 

The fire broke out shortly before 3 a.m. in the 4400 block of Marble Hall Road. Firefighters arrived within a minute, but intense fire and smoke was already coming from the building, fore officials said.

Fire crews say one patient, a 53-year-old woman, was transported to the hospital where the she was pronounced dead. The woman's dog was also killed in the fire.

Friends of the victim tell ABC2 News she was like a neighborhood mother.

A dozen other people were displaced by the fire.

The fire has since been declared under control by Baltimore City Fire Department and the cause remains under investigation.
