For years, gun violence has plagued cities across the country.
In Baltimore, nearly 350 people were killed in 2015 and the city is on pace to see a number more than 300 by the end of 2016.
Communities are becoming more familiar with gun violence as more and more shootings happened everyday.
"You can book it that cities like Baltimore and Chicago that pretty much everyday, someone is going to get shot, possibly wounded, possibly killed," said Pierre Thomas, senior justice correspondent for Nightline.
"The impact that it has on communities. The impact that it has on police departments, in terns of happening continually," Thomans said. "I call it a chronic epidemic."
ABC's Nightline investigates America's gun violence in a special segment called "Shots Fired" airing after Jimmy Kimmel Live! Friday night.
"What we wanted to do is put the mirror up to the country and let it look at itself in terms of gun violence," Thomas said.
