Baltimore's speed cameras have been issuing tickets for the past week and already, speeders are getting a break because of a mailing error.
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation says under 900 people were issued two tickets on the first day. It is waiving the $40 tickets to those caught speeding Monday Aug. 7.

The city's speed and red light camera programs were shut down in 2013 over concerns about the accuracy of the tickets, but officials say that's not the case here.
"It was one violation," said director of the Department of Transportation Michelle Pourciau. "The speed was accurate, they were speeding. They were just sent two notices for the one violation."

The department says the source of the problem was identified and fixed, but didn't elaborate on what the issue was.
Right now, the warning period for the eight red light cameras is in effect until the end of the month.
