The NAACP's Baltimore City branch is denouncing the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) in response to comments the organization made about State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby following Officer Caesar Goodson's acquittal.
Tessa Hill-Aston, president of the NAACP's Baltimore branch, will hold a press conference Thursday at 11 a.m. outside of Courthouse East with other community leaders.
While the State's Attorney's office is under a gag order and and comment on the matter, Hill-Aston will speak on Mosby's behalf. Hill-Aston called the FOP's comments "unprofessional and demeaning" to Mosby, in a news release.
Mosby has recently come under fire over her handling of the Freddie Gray case, with several public figures calling for her resignation. Five of the six officers charged in Gray's death have filed defamation lawsuits against Mosby stemming from her press conference on May 1, 2015.
