Moveable Feast, a food delivery service benefitting people living with life-threatening illnesses, will be outfitted with a new refrigerated van thanks to a $5000 grant from BJ’s Wholesale Club.

The grant, part of a $100,000 funding initiative marking the retailer’s partnership with Meals on Wheels America, will help boost the East Baltimore-based organization’s efforts to provide healthy meals to more than 600 men, women and children throughout the Maryland area living with HIV/AIDS and cancer.

Moveable Feast is a member of Meals on Wheels America. The organization applied for the grant from BJ's Charitable Foundation, which will ultimately fund 16 area programs food delivery programs.

“In our mission to feed people and fight disease, we can only be successful in that thanks to partnerships like this with BJ's," Tom Bonderenko, executive director of Moveable Feast, told ABC2. "The freezer that they provided will ensure that our frozen entrees get to people who are critically ill and are in need the most. For those clients, food is equal to medicine."

The group says they’ve delivered more than 800,000 free meals to 5,721 clients in 2015.
