MDTA releases names of 2 people killed in I-95 crash

Two of three people killed in weekend crashes on I-95 have been identified, the Maryland Transportation Authority Police said. 

 

Alfred Santos Orellana, 38, of Mount Rainier was killed in the crash near Caton Avenue. Mehmed Hodzic, 54, of Edgewood died in the crash near Eastern Avenue. 

 

Police have not yet identified the operator of the tanker truck who died, but said he was an operator for Carroll Fuel. The company's president, John Phelps, released a statement Monday, saying the accident "is an extremely difficult time."  

"We are a family-owned company in business for more than a century. Our employees are like part of our family, so this is an extremely difficult time for all of us. This is the first employee in our 100+ year history that has passed away as a result of an accident on the job," Phelps' statement read. "Our deepest sympathies go out to all of those involved in or impacted by this tragic accident. We have and will continue to assist authorities with the ongoing, multifaceted investigation of this accident and have been advised not to comment further until the investigation has been completed."

There are still a number of unclaimed vehicles. MDTA Police are asking drivers and witnesses involved in the fatal I-95 crash to call 410-537-1208 with information.
