Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced there will be no change in the Charm City Circular service for the remainder of her time in office.

“I have always made the tough decisions required to ensure that I leave the city in a better place than when I took office," Rawlings-Blake said.

There is a recommendation in the fiscal year 2017 budget to increase parking tax to avoid service reductions.

The City Council has not acted on the recommendation, which has resulted in the need for significant reductions in the circulator's service.

According to Rawlings-Blake, a new service contract for the Circulator is currently under review and will possibly be the solution to the worst-case scenario budget cuts.

While service reductions are likely, it’s too soon to make a decision on changing the Circulator service until the bid process is completed.

Rawlings-Blake is working closely with the Maryland Transit Administration to finalize recommendations and coordinate services.
