The high-speed floating train of the future is getting closer to a reality here in Baltimore.
Wednesday morning at the B&O Railroad Museum there will be an announcement on the Superconducting Maglev (SCMAGLEV) system.
At 10:00 a.m., Jeff Hirschberg, Vice Chairman of the Baltimore-Washington Rapid Rail will be joined by Mayor Pugh and others to talk about the latest step forward in the ongoing effort to connect D.C. and Baltimore with the world's fastest train.
According to calculations, the train could go from D.C. to Baltimore in 15 minutes, and Baltimore to the big apple in 45.

The floating train is propelled by magnets like some amusement park rides. Public and private investors already raised millions for the project estimated to cost more than 10 billion dollars.
The only setback so far is concern from homeowners who would be impacted by the construction of the rail.
The environmental impact study is a third of the way to completion.
