Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake hosted a press conference to discuss the status of Baltimore post blizzard.
She urged citizens to continue to minimize traffic on the road so that crews can continue to clear major roadways. She said that crews are making great progress and working around the clock to remove snow.
Rawlings-Blake asked for residents to remember that as you're shoveling your sidewalks and cars, please do not push the snow back onto the streets. That only complicates the city's snow removal efforts.
Department of Transportation Director William Johnson thanked everyone for working tirelessly to get the city back to a sense of normalcy.
He said they are working to clear small neighborhood streets, but that many are too narrow for standard snow plows and will require special equipment. He urges residents to be patient and know that the city is working to clear all of the neighborhood streets.
Johnson said that a number of the major streets in the city are at least passable.
Baltimore City remains in Phase 2 is still in effect and motorists should only drive if it's imperative.
She urged residents to remember that the weekend's snowfall was historic, therefore snow removal efforts are not business as usual. Crews are working to clear neighborhood streets, but the snow must be lifted away and removed, not simply pushed to the side.
