The Board of Estimates approved a $135,000 dollar settlement Wednesday for an unarmed man who was shot in the leg by a Baltimore City Police officer in September 2015.

The settlement resolves a lawsuit filed by John Rau III against Major Byron Conaway, the Baltimore City Police Department and the City Council.

According to reports, Officer Conaway said Rau did not respond to commands and refused to show his hands.

Officer Conaway also stated that he shot Rau out of fear he had a weapon.

No weapons or drugs were found on Rau during the incident.
