BALTIMORE - A 61-year-old man was struck and killed by an MTA bus in Northeast Baltimore Thursday evening.
Baltimore City Police say they were called to the intersection of 32nd Street and The Alameda just after 6 p.m.
A preliminary investigation revealed James Payne was standing at the number 36 bus stop in the 3200 block of the Alameda. Police said Payne was leaning forward from the curb as the bus approached and fell into the street.
Detectives explain the bus hit the victim and killed him.
The Baltimore City Police Department Accident Investigation Unit is investigating and asking anyone who may have seen the accident to call 410-396-2606.
A spokesperson for MTA tells ABC2 the passengers on board the bus involved in the accident were transferred to another bus and transported to their destinations.
The bus line remained on a 20 minute delay for several hours following the deadly accident.
