From her testimony last week and her interview Wednesday on Good Morning America, it's clear that Asia McClain remembers speaking with Adnan Syed in the Woodlawn Public Library on January 13, 1999.
But does that mean that Syed did not kill his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee?
McClain was never contacted by Syed's attorney before his murder trial in 2000 - a mistake, according to Syed's current attorneys. They believe that is serious enough to grant him a new trial.
The state argues that the attorney, Christina Gutierrez did not make a mistake, but chose not to contact McClain because she was concerned McClain might actually hurt Syed's case.
The state's theory is that Syed didn't usually go to the public library and an alibi that took Syed away from his normal routine on the day Lee disappeared might look suspicious.
Wednesday morning, McClain said she doesn't know what Syed did with the rest of his day in January 1999.
