A new program that encourage kids to read and gives shelter pets a new friend is starting in Baltimore.

The program is called "Tails With Tales" and is led by Orioles pitcher Kevin Gausman and his wife Taylor.

It pairs adoptable pets at BARCS with kids as 'reading buddies' to give the pets companionship and help the kids with reading and confidence.

After reading five books the students will get two free tickets to an Orioles game and a free book. The books are being donated by the Gausman's and the volunteers of BARCS.

The Gausman's will launch the project on Friday with more than a dozen students from the Kendrick Boys and Girls Club.
