BALTIMORE - A local nonprofit that helps kids who suffer from brain disorders received a multi-million dollar grant this week.
The Kennedy Krieger Institute received $8 million from the Weinberg Foundation. The money will be used to build a new outpatient facility. It will help kids with neurodevelopmental disorders.
The Weinberg Foundation awarded the grant because Kennedy Krieger trains doctors and specialists who fan out across the world to treat kids.
Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake feels the new center will help parents raise their special kids. The grant will be paid out over the project's five-year length.
