Tuesday morning, crews are still keeping an eye on a warehouse in South Baltimore that caught fire early Monday, and making sure hot spots don't reignite the flames.

The fire burned well into the evening hours, and it could take some time before investigators know how it started.

The roads have been closed since 6:30 Monday morning, when the fire started at the Whitehouse & Schapiro Recycling Plant in Baltimore.

For hours, thick black smoke billowed from the 94,000 square foot warehouse.

Whitehouse & Schapiro take items Goodwill can't sell, recycle them, and then send them to people in need around the world.

Employees tell ABC2 the warehouse was full of clothes, toys and household items. Unfortunately, most of that inventory is likely a loss because of the fire.

The general manager of the company was inside the building when the fire broke out, but he made it out.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, and its not clear when investigators can even get inside the building to figure out how it started.
