Five people, including a Baltimore City Police Officer, were sent to the hospital Saturday morning after a car accident.
According to Jeremy Silbert, spokesperson for the Baltimore City Police Department, the crash happened around 3:00 a.m. in the intersection of South Canton Avenue and Frederick Avenue.
"The preliminary investigation by detectives from our Accident Investigation Unit revealed that the police vehicle was stopped at a traffic signal when a collision occurred inside the intersection involving two other vehicles," said Silbert.
Police say the investigation also revealed that the police vehicle was hit by one of the vehicles involved in the original accident.
Four people involved in the initial accident were transported to an area hospital, along with the officer involved.
Silbert explained that injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
