BALTIMORE - The Preston Mitchum, Jr. Foundation recently announced the winners of the 5th Annual Preston Mitchum, Jr. Foundation Essay Contest.
The contest serves as part of the foundation’s commitment to "educate, empower, and provide a vision of a brighter future for youth.” The contest is part of the foundation’s desire to stress the importance of exercising reading, writing, and critical-thinking skills to communicate effectively in our daily lives. This essay contest encourages participants to challenge their creative thought process and exercise their writing skills to further enrich their communication skills.
This year, the contest was sponsored by Long and Foster Realtors and WMAR-TV ABC 2. The contest was open to area fifth and sixth graders. First prize was a laptop computer followed by a digital camera for second place at a $50 gift card for third place.
