The family of Freddie Gray asked the people of Baltimore to remain calm after a hung jury was announced in the trial of William Porter.
"We want to thank the hard working jury for their service to the public in their quest for justice," Richard Shipley, Freddie Gray's stepfather, said during a brief press conference Wednesday evening.

"We are not at all upset with them and neither should the public be upset. They did the best that they could " Shipley said.
Shipley read the prepared statement on behalf of Gray's family. Shipley said the family is hoping the state will try Porter a second time and that the next jury will reach a verdict.
"Once again we ask the public to remain calm, patient because we are confident there will be another trial with a different jury. We are calm, you should be calm too," Shipley said.
