Cupid Foundation funds summer jobs for New Era Academy students

Kevin Plank's Cupid Foundation sponsored 40 summer YouthWorks positions for New Era Academy students.

The school announced Monday it students will be exposed to in the maritime industry. 

"Partnering with New Era Academy has been a wonderful opportunity for us to strengthen and expand our commitment to educational opportunities for young people in Baltimore," said Plank Industries CEO, Tom Geddes, in a press release.
 
Students within the YouthWorks program, including those at New Era, will be assigned to various employers who volunteers to train and employ the students over a five-week period. The sites where they will work are as follows:
  • Office of Congressman Elijah Cummings
  • Coast Guard Yard Baltimore
  • Maryland Port Authority
  • Baltimore Parks and Recreation
  • The Wicklein Group
  • N.S. Savannah acting through Mega-Tech Services, LLC
  • WWL Logistics
  • NYK Lines
  • John S. Connor, Inc. 
  • Law Offices of Paul Shelton
  • Maryland Pilots
  • Ports America
  • Watermark's Baltimore Cruise Vessels
 
"This opportunity is bridging the gap between what students learn and what they will do," said New Era Academy Principal Kia Harper.
