Critics angry over MTA MARC plans

BALTIMORE -

The I-70 park and ride would be one of the stops along the red line. Construction isn't slated to begin until 2015 but critics are already putting up a fight.

The red line is a proposed 14 mile line that would begin in Woodlawn at the centers for Medicare and Medicaid services. It would have stops through downtown Baltimore and end at the Bayview MARC station.

On Wednesday night the MTA shared its plan with the Canton Community Association. The plan involves a year-long construction project along Boston Street that would result in lost parking.

Business owners say the Red line isn't necessary, and it would only hurt their communities.

The red line would be a light rail line similar to the one from Hunt Valley to BWI.

The goal is to begin construction in 2 years and have the red line up and running by 2021.
