Crews go under downtown hotel to repair electrical line

Crews were sent underground Wednesday morning in response to an incident that happened below the Sheraton-Baltimore City Center Hotel.

The reason?

Officials with Baltimore Gas & Electric say that of two lines that run underground, one had an issue.

The line is contained inside a vault at the hotel.

Power was shut off so crews could make repairs. Though there was talk of an explosion by passers-by, officials say there was no such incident. What was thought to be an explosion could have been a blown fuse.

One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
